Successful sports agent Derrick Tyler (Michael Ealy) is getting married. Brought to Vegas the last day of bachelor’s freedom. He doesn't care until he meets Val (Hilary Swank). He lies and they have a fling. He leaves her to return to her life in LA. Someone broke into his home and nearly killed him. Police arrived and detective Val Quinlan turned out to be his Val from Vegas.
A deceitful boy is hard to beat. The film is trying to make the audience feel good but I have no sympathy. Then the film becomes complex. Val has a personal drama. There are problems everywhere. The foundation begins to lose the rope. They are trying to make Strangers on the train station but they are not smart enough. Val's last move is unnecessary and ultimately makes no sense. This is a structure from the author's grasp. It has low gloss tones but is lustrous than grit. There would be something here if it could clean up some of the garbage.
