Black Widow Movie Review
Can Section 4 begin with another Origin story? A film that works without the knowledge of what has happened in the past or what will happen next? I would argue that it can work. Of course having some knowledge of the timeline is not a bad thing to have. And while this starts before other major events, it plays a big part in the Civil War (which was the Captain America film, though all the Avengers were in it) and Infinity War.
And it closes the gap literally and gives us an additional Black Widow. Yes this movie was something many people wanted to see long ago. But the way they present and the story they tell - works very well. It's kind of a fun spy thing than a heroic movie (there are still a lot of great hero stuff) - there's even a clip on telly (TV) featuring James Bond.
But in the midst of all the actions and all the chaos and all the growth or growth as a character (The Black Widow but also her supporters), there are many family things happening. Funny, considering the family thing is a priority. Now I am not alone in saying that this is a metaphor not only for family life but also for America (the way) of Life. And while the addition of an American Pie song can be an ad lib or a last minute addition, it summarizes it perfectly in more than one way. And when you do not expect it, the song will probably tear you to pieces. Or at least make you feel good.
The apps are great and the way a big machine like Marvel still allows players to create and deliver their own shows on screen. The chemistry between the characters and the fun they have when they set. And then there are the pigs - a friend was reminded of the Bullets of Justice ... I have to admit, this may serve as a precursor to that (this is a violent film, you do not want it if you are easily upset and pressured.).
All that aside, yes there are some funny things going on, yes a lot of things are taken away from reality, but there is the courage to go places, you can't expect - with a Marvel film and all that. And at the end ... playing a piece of music / theme ... if you've been a fan of Avengers universe and movies before, you'll be affected. I can confirm that.
And as always there is something in the credits. Actually after the credits (this time no one left the theater, they are as well trained as I am) - one small place setting up a "future project" ... not so far in the future, but you'll know when you see it.
