Paper Tigers is an exciting comedy film that convinces its charming characters and their evolving relationships. The story involves three middle-aged men who were trained by an art master three decades ago. Now that their former king is dead under mysterious circumstances, they are again meeting together to find out what has happened.
The film is convincing with its interesting characters. The former superintendent is a generous, knowledgeable and strong man who used his advantage which led to his tragic death. Danny is facing a difficult divorce, full of work and continuing to part with his beloved son. Hing has been plagued by injuries at work and has difficulty walking despite maintaining a positive attitude and encouraging his friends. Jim has continued his martial arts career but has a deep grudge against his former friends. The three friends must fix their challenges, demons and their divisions in order to avenge their former king.
The Paper Tigers incorporate powerful martial arts. Some parts are funny, some are fast and some have a vicious twist. This blend keeps the film very entertaining. The final battle can be seen as the climax of the film and a huge achievement as it also spreads an inspiring message.
Despite the delicate plot, the film incorporates a lot of comedy release. Three key actors who are smart in fun times give jokes of a very good character. Other side characters like the former arrogant rival and the three uninitiated criminals also spice things up.
The weak part of the film is the structure that always picks up. The story is highly predictable and the motives of the evil one seem shallow.
If you plan to watch a non-fiction karate joke but built on true love of the genre, you will enjoy the fun with The Paper Tigers. This movie may not be artistic, rivalry or memorable but it is fun from start to finish and offers some security in difficult times. If you like this kind of film, I would also warmly recommend the same Insert Fat Dragon.
