Ernesto Movie Review
I give any movie I watch a chance. His time was shorter than most so I turned it off prematurely than I used to do when I first realized that the extra time spent was hopeless. So this film got, unfairly, 15 minutes of my precious time.
What's the problem with it? It is "art". There is nothing wrong with that as long as the art makes a point or explores interesting ways and new ways of speaking. The film offended art, art because of it.
The players were not doing anything good for something. There was no chemistry at all between Ernesto and the first female lead. Kisses and romance scenes were awful and the actors were not in a relationship. Ernesto's first male lover was the same; no love, no vim, no attraction in the mix.
In these scenes the actors were portrayed standing on a train or in a stadium or leaning against a wall without speaking but their lines skipped that they were mentioned by them somewhere in the studio and probably did not agree with any action on the screen. I'm sure someone thought that would be a jape wizard and a critical achievement. Not at all. It is false and very annoying.
In the midst of this nonsense they were appearing in a game of reading lines that may have been about their relationship. At one point they appeared in an organized area loaded with beautiful boys and girls arranged in a circle that Ernesto touched.
That's where I listen. There is no conspiracy as the summary makes it clear. I have no problem with that as long as the topic is interesting and convincing. It was not.
