Insight Movie Review
My wife and I were looking for something fun on Friday night that would keep us happy with pizza and beer. We are six months old, we don't have much time, and little time to pay attention. We met Insight on iTunes and managed to get a fair amount of credit. In fact, at a time when every action movie is extremely long and surprisingly delicate, it is refreshing to find something like this just a quick-witted surfing with something that catches the eye in every scene.
Ken Zheng plays clairvoyant counter-terrorism specialist investigating his brother's death in LA. It turns out that things are much more complicated than they first appear, and Zheng has to work with Madeline Zima to deal with the evil one Sean Patrick Flanery and his vicious follower, Adam Huss. Foot-chasing, car chase, shooting, boxing, explosion, and magical objects. Does it all make sense? No. Should it? No. This is about good and bad people fixing points and learning minds.
The ending leaves a space for sequence, which I look forward to. The fast-paced fire building has left a small backstory space or story B, so I hope other characters can grow as the building of the world progresses. (Huss' performance has been satisfactorily threatening, and it would be nice to see him have a chance to raise the threat level to 11.)
All in all, we enjoyed it. Pour a drink (or two) and enjoy this blend on Friday night as we did.
