 Tazmanian Devil Review

I started this movie with the intention of sleeping in it and watching it in the morning, my usual habit with many programs and movies. I find myself in another cup of coffee this morning due to lack of sleep. The film caught my attention throughout its entire 2-hour performance.

It is an exciting story for years to come that unites two cultures that most people do not know - the strong Nigerian American culture and the fascinating mystery of the Greek alphabet culture. There are many films depicting the lives of black Greeks in a bad culture, but this is the first one I have seen celebrating good, bad and bad. Many organizations have a strict policy of non-discrimination, but the fictional Tau Alpha Zeta does what many organizations have done in the past with unofficial promises. Through this process, however, he sees growing ties between the young men and the growth and development of his leading character, Dayo.

In Dayo, we see a cultural and ideological conflict between black Americans (US-born Africans, most of whom include the descendants of slavery) and the first generation of African Americans (from Africa). Aside from the many similarities, there have been well-written cuts. The conflict between Dayo and his father explores this and adds extra depth to the movie, apart from the intense action, humor and drama of the engagement process.

For those who question the “lack of diversity” of all black characters, I think they don’t know the history of Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Therefore, I urge you to do your own research on this subject, as well as the National Hellenic Council (NPHC). If you have no interest or awareness in any of the topics, this film may not be worth your time. It's on my Black History Month checklist for sure
