 The Suicide Squad Review

The original Suicide Squad was a mixed bag but it had its moments, the spin-off Birds of Prey was the best, and this third installment, which only added "The" to the title, was highly anticipated, written and directed by James Gunn (Slither, Guardians of the Galaxy). Basically, intelligence chief Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) hires a team of Belle Reve inmates to perform a new suicide mission, threatened with bombs placed on their heads if they break orders, and promises to reduce their sentences if successful. . The delegation, led by Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), is being deported to the South American island of Corto Malta after its government was overthrown by an anti-US government. They were given the task of destroying the Nazi-era laboratory Jötunheim where secret research known as "Project Starfish" was carried out. However, the group was attacked by Corto Malta soldiers, which resulted in the death of Brian Durlin aka Savant (Michael Rooker), George Harkness aka Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Richard "Dick" Hertz aka Blackguard (Pete Davidson), Cory Pitzner aka. TDK "The Detachable Kid" (Nathan Fillion), Javelin (Flula Borg), and Mngal (Mayling Ng). One survivor of the group is Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) who was kidnapped by soldiers and by seducing the leader gets information about the new government's plans to use Project Starfish against other nations. Interruption disturbances allow a second group of prisoners to enter the country unnoticed. The second group is led by Robert DuBois aka Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker (John Cena), Nanaue aka King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Abner Krill aka Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), and Cleo. Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior). After receiving the flag at a rebel camp, the group recruited rebel leader Sol Soria (Alice Braga) to assist them. The group achieved its following goal of photographing Dr. Gaius Grieves also known as Thought (Peter Capaldi), a metahuman scientist in charge of Project Starfish. After rescuing Harley, who managed to escape from captivity, the team entered Jötunheim loaded with explosives, while Flag and Ratcatcher 2 entered the lower laboratory with Thinker. They found Project Starfish Starro the Conqueror, a large, intelligent starfish-like alien who controls its victims through its smaller versions. The idea reveals that Starro was brought to Earth by the American government, which for decades had secretly sponsored the Corto Maltese experiment. The Peacemaker, under the secret orders to conceal American involvement, kills the flag after refusing to release a hard drive containing evidence of this revelation. At the time, the team and the Corto Malta military, which caused the Polka-Dot Man to accidentally explode prematurely. Ratcatcher 2 gets a drive from Peacemaker and Bloodsport saves him by shooting Peacemaker. Starro escapes the laboratory, kills Mcabangi and several soldiers, and begins to control the population of the island. Waller tells the team their career is over, but Bloodsport decides to lead the team against Starro. Waller orders the group to be executed for disobeying orders, but his subordinates faint on him, seeking to save lives. Polka-Dot Man is killed, but Harley drills a hole in the alien's eye and Ratcatcher 2 calls on all the city mice to chew on Starro until he dies inside. With the military disrupted, Soria controls the government and promises a democratic change. Using the drive as an advantage, Bloodsport pressured Waller to release him and his teammates who had survived the arrests in order to keep its contents confidential, and they were flown out of Corto Maltese. During the credit scenes, Weasel of the first group (Sean Gunn) and the Peacemaker were shown alive. He also played with Taika Waititi as Ratcatcher, Dee Bradley Baker as Sebastian, Natalia Safran as Kaleidoscope and Gerardo Davila as General Vera. Robbie is adorable as the hero of the fun-loving kill, Elba and Cena are both strong in being tough, Davis is having his bad times, and the other characters are doing well. Unlike the original, the characters have a lot of layers, the story is interesting, the effects are special, the combat sequence is controlled, it leaves a space of timely comedy and action, and a beautiful soundtrack, including Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", "Whistle for the Choir "by The Fratellis, a thrilling act against a mighty warrior. Very good!
