 Superhost Review

I sat down and watched the 2021 horror movie "Superhost" without knowing what it was about. And hopefully, if I had known it was another useless film about vloggers, I would not have given the film a second look.

Anyway, at least I didn't go down without explaining myself first. I have to admit I was attracted to the cover / film poster, which was really fun.

The story, as written by Brandon Christensen, who also directed the film, was a kind of mixed bag of nuts. I do not enjoy movies about self-proclaimed vloggers and their sad requests for likes and subscribers. It's just a sad practice pervading today's social media platforms. And it does not make for great entertainment. But again, Rebecca's disturbing behavior and personality in the movie were actually interesting enough. So there was a twist and missed part of the film, but also an exciting part of the movie.

Needless to say I was not at all interested in the vlogging aspect of the story, nor did I care about Clair and Teddy, two vloggers. But I would say that Sara Canning and Osric Chau were good enough actors, but they were just given the bad characters to portray. It was really nice to see Barbara Crampton from the movie, despite just a moment. Now, I have to say that "Superhost" was taken only by Gracie Gillam's play, playing Rebecca, because her performance was amazing.

In the shocking film then "Superhost" was a twist and a miss, it was common and predictable to the point where it was painful to stay. There is nothing scary or fun in a movie, unless you consider vlogging on top of entertainment.

My "Superhost" rating reaches three out of ten stars. It would have been weighed down if it had not been for the Gracie Gillam game.
