 Birds of Paradise Review

How much drama can there be in a dance school? Sure, you have to practice your movement and roam the egos of other dancers, but how bad can it be? However, as it turns out the dance school is almost full of drama like the Saturday afternoon episode of Come Dine with Me.

Kate was the best dancer in her school, back in her small town, no we are not talking about body-popping or foxtrot, we are talking ballet. Kate now finds herself far from home in Paris after receiving a scholarship from a prestigious ballet school, where she suddenly becomes a small fish in a very large lake. Every student there has one goal and only one goal, to be the best and win a contract with the Opera national de Paris. Kate soon became friends with Marine, an American girl. Their relationship is very close, but can Kate really trust Marine, or is she just being deceived into believing that a desirable prize will not come to her?

The first thing I have to say about Birds of Paradise is that this is a good looking film. First of all, students are good, small and like models. But apart from the actors dancing their hearts out the film itself is not a lax one when it comes to beauty. Cinematography is as beautiful and graceful as the ballet it filters and enhances many of the already impressive techniques on display. In addition to this, the fairy-tale bird of paradise in the middle of the story meets in the real world, exploding in a sequence resembling a triple dream where Kate and Marine come by themselves and express themselves through dance in ways they would never know. It must be said that this is not a dream sequence, but rather an artistic representation of unspoken deepest emotions.

Birds of Paradise almost resemble the French as a beguette wearing a beret, fluttering a clever little mustache, and having an unusual connection behind his wife. That is, very French. An amazing part of the dialogue has subtitles, with all the students, but Kate, at school, managed to articulate it. Kate is a fish out of the water and finds herself thrown into the deep. Those aquatic analogies are slightly contradictory, but you get my point across.

Kate, played by Diana Silvers, has a strong moral character and strong connection with her well-behaved father. Although the father in question has never been seen, he has powerful gifts throughout the film, thanks to frequent phone calls he and Kate exchanged.

He just gets to school like this, but to get the prize he finds himself constantly questioning his values and what he is willing to sacrifice in order to achieve greatness. As a result Kate is a compelling character who is exposed to the reality of dancing at such a high level. The bullying, drugs, and bulimia, rampant in this school are enlightened to him and he is left in an almost impossible place. Dianna does an excellent job and her inexperience when she first arrives is believed, this makes it easier to find a character when she competes with more experienced and irrational dancers.

Marine is played by Kristine Froseth, who would not be much different from Kate. Had Kate been a refreshing glass of Coke them Marine she is a hot shot of hot sauce. He is focused on the prize and wants to be the best no matter how expensive it is and he is not afraid to make enemies. He’s not popular right away, and he seems to be a small piece of bad work. Throughout the film, however, his depth and his true character are revealed leading to a complex and emotionally rich, compelling and easy-to-emphasize character. For me at least he was the star of the show, despite not being the main character, and his journey to finding peace and equality was highlighted in the film and a real surprise. Kristine offers excellent emotionally rich performance that makes all of these ideas difficult and works seamlessly and effortlessly. This was my first exposure to the actor, but I look forward to seeing where he goes and what he will do next.

So, what is wrong with the birds of Paradise? Well, to my knowledge there is not much. An interesting story with funny characters and amazing characters. It does not speak down to the audience and does not draw every detail of the story. The fact is, this is a story about two young girls who are vying to become the best dancer, and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to reach that goal. It is not life or death and the end of the world is not in danger. The foundation will not appeal to all travelers and Birds of Paradise does not reach the top of other ballet films that I will not mention here, but Birds of Paradise engaged me throughout and left me satisfied and amazed at the quality as well. the richness of its characters.

This interesting balletic story is worth a look and includes the best performances of the best new emerging actors.
