In 1939, the newly formed MI6 British intelligence agency hired Cambridge mathematician Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) to break the Nazi code, including Enigma - which cryptanalyst analysts thought was unbreakable. The Turing team, which includes Joan Clarke (Keira Knightley), analyzes Enigma's messages while developing a descriptive machine. Turing and the team eventually succeed and become heroes, but in 1952, the silent intellectual encounters a disgrace when the authorities reveal his innocence and send him to prison.
