At first sight after seeing the film. This looks like a very popular Bruno Dumont movie, this is far from the truth. This is another offbeat and indionycratic attempt from Dumont.
The basic story is about TV Superstar / Journalist France Le Meurs (a beautiful Léa Seydoux drama here that is more magnetic and looking more beautiful than ever) with her TV program more enjoyable than real journalism, and married again. he has a child but he does not seem to stay at home for so long because he is very busy with his reports of war in the east directed and organized by him or he is very busy on social media he finds. The character is not deep and unpopular but seems completely different in his world. Everything changes when he runs over a young immigrant in a car accident, has an existing problem and does a series of events.
The film was considered a joke or a joke by the media especially the high-profile media but the film in my view is more than an interesting character study with a film that combines comedic / grotesque and melodramatic momen (with Léa Seydoux playing those scenes. and it seems to me that Dumont is using the film as a sharp criticism of the French capitalist society that the leading character belongs to them.
Structurally the film seems to be ubiquitous, but what Dumont wanted was to develop the practical and distinctive features of French work and personal life and the confusing times we all have as a society living in the modern world.
Dumont said in a recent interview that the film should not have been popular, but I personally thought the film was very interesting and appealing.
