 Prisoners of the Ghostland Review

Indeed, the poster / cover of "Prisoners of the Ghostland" looks really interesting, I will say that very much. And yes, I chose to sit down and watch this 2021 film because it was a new film I had never seen, and because it had Bill Moseley on the cast.

Yes, "Prisoners of Ghostland" is a rare film, even a Nicolas Cage film. Even by his own standards, then this film is out there, way, out there. From the story line to the weird pictures, props, costumes and sets.

I found the story "Prisoners of the Ghostland", as written by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai, bizarre and bizarre. It was too far away for the film to suffer, as it grew annoyingly and frustratingly depressing to stay in the middle of it, as many things were absurd, or so absurd that you never found it.

Acting in the film was expected. I wish Bill Moseley had been given more screen time, because he had - hands down - the best thing about the film. Sure, it was nice to see Sofia Boutella on screen, but she was seen running on an auto-pilot. And this, good or bad, was just another note in Nicolas Cage's extraordinary film work.

The characters and the conversation throughout the season of "Ghostland Prisoners" was very bad, and that was very bad for the whole movie.

I'm sure there are audiences out there for director Sion Sono's film "Prisoners of the Ghostland". But as it turned out, at the time I was not a target audience. And I can't say that I found much fun or excitement in this particular movie.

My rating of "Prisoners of the Ghostland" reaches two out of ten stars.
