Say Your Prayers Review
People can find the wrong things. And people who are sure that they are right can make things worse. Note the proofs of theology. Roger Allam portrays an atheist who sounds a bit like Richard Dawkins - except that he brings up the flaws of an unpleasant character. Derek Jacobi is Father Enoch, a priest who decided that his God wanted to establish one of His Commandments (number six, about murder as you may remember). The conclusion forgives the ways.
Father Enoch spent almost two decades raising two brothers who were abandoned as children: Vic (Tom Brooke) and Tim (Harry Melling). Now he has an important assignment for his servants (the Lord's work). Vic seems determined to do this kind of thing, but Tim seems to lack a clear definition of the behavior of an overly enthusiastic person - and probably not very bright. If this is the story of one character, that character Tim, is a lamb in a world of wolves.
They go to work. But small mistakes can have tragic consequences. Now it seems that the assignment will be more challenging than it originally intended. Police are aware of the death threats and are taking steps to protect Prof Huxley (Allam) at the Ilkley Literature Festival (yes, Ilkley, a city in Yorkshire, is actually hosting these firefighting gatherings). Two "middle-east" boys came to hear the speaker of the day - you'd better keep an eye on them ...
Life can be a mess of pleasure and sweat, pain and sadness, cliche and claptrap, hypocrisy and contemplation, love and humiliation. But will all of these elements play well together to make a movie? Jamie Fraser (author) and Harry Michell (author and director) make it very good (very good touch, and clever twists), and rely on the audience not to worry too much about how they should do it. hearing - is this a tragedy, or a joke? We’ve seen a lot of police officers wearing work on screen (Anna Maxwell Martin in this episode), but the magnificent men’s choir - now that’s different, and it really adds to its commentary feature in the film.
