"Yakuza Princess" from writers Kimi Lee, Tubaldini Shelling, Fernando Toste and Vicente Amorim was a very mixed bag of nuts. And by that I mean that some parts of the story were fun, and some were not so good. But in the end, the film was weighed down with the sadness of the narrative.
Now, the story told in "Yakuza Princess" had enough interesting elements in it, but it wasn't the best part of the film from beginning to end. So it was a test of some sort to read a movie about its length and not really start to have a personal interest in the story.
There were good action scenes and sword scenes that made the movie live. But Masumi's play became the icing on the cake, as she had played Akemi's role in "Yakuza Princess", and she directed the film almost exclusively. The film also features the excellent performance of Tsuyoshi Ihara, Eijiro Ozaki and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
"Yakuza Princess" is a visual film, but at the same time it was boring. And that ultimately leads to my rating of five out of ten stars. There are the best films of the same nature out there, so the genre of "Yakuza Princess" just came and went without much fuss.
