The Rising Hawk Battle for the Carpathians Movie Review

In the 13th century, ordinary people fled the bloodshed of Mongol invaders in Kyiv to protect the Carpathian Mountains. Maksim (Alex MacNicoll) saves Myroslava (Poppy Drayton) and confirms his powerful father Tuhar Vovk (Tommy Flanagan) to be present at the celebration in Maksim's place led by Maksim's father Zakhar Berkut (Robert Patrick). Tuhar looks down and does not trust these mountain people. After the attack, Maksim and his brother rescued several prisoners and, in the process, killed the son of the Mongol general Burunda Khan. Khan intends to take revenge.

This is a Ukrainian sword and drama history of sandals. MacNicoll has a look but needs extra charisma to lead. Drayton has both. It is strange that the story and production is in Ukrainian but most of the characters are western English. It is what it is. Great B-movie. It is much longer than just two hours. There are sections in the second half that draw. This one can't be a very high Khan. And the action is a little over the top. I love some of you and that is enough to keep my attention. It doesn't move.
