Dragon Rider Movie Review
Centuries after man-made warfare against the dragonkind, surviving dragons are living a secure life hidden in the human realm. As human development approaches their village, the silver dragon Fidrake (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) decides to find the sanctuary of the mythical dragon The Rim of Heaven. Fidrake is joined by his friend Sorrell (Felicity Jones), a forest brownie, and the two begin their journey to save the dragons from confronting humans. When Fidrake arrives in town, the opportunity to meet leads Ben (Freddie Highmore) a street orphan and a young thief Fidrake to mistakes in Dragon Rider (thanks to the film poster "How to Tame your Dragon"). Ben learns of possible treasures tied to the Rim of Heaven and decides to go along with Fidrake, but when an archeological healer named Nettlebrand (Patrick Stewart) hears about Fidrake and his ambition, the poles become more interested in Nettlebrand to pursue not only Fidrake, but also with Heaven fiction.
Adapted from the 1997 German children's book Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke, the book became a best-seller in its English translation. An improved familiarity with Constantin Films was produced and distributed, as well as the visual effects house Rise FX producing live animation. While Rise FX has a history of providing visual effects on many major Hollywood productions, especially the visual effects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Rise has recently entered film production in line with the popularity of the sci-fi film Stowaway and now Dragon Rider or the like. is best known for releasing the US Firedrake the Silver Dragon. The movie did not create a new foundation for animated children's films, and marketing was more than just a talk about evoking the memories of the Dreamworks' How to Train your Dragon franchise (as far as using the same style font and text in the poster), but while the simple Dragon Rider is a successful film .
The movie is actually a street movie with Fidrake a nightmare dream that lives confidently in the stories told by the dragon elders, with Sorrell as a more careful and sensible founder who works harder than Fidrake. The voice of Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Felicity Jones is really well done and buys their energy and they work well together. Freddie Highmore like Ben I thought he did well as a slightly selfish character following the arc of redemption, and although it is not a sad thing I thought it was well done. Patrick Stewart's performance as a Nettlebrand I really like because he walks the line playing the character relentlessly and terribly, but also goes crazy with a gag running weird using a fictional website called "fetchamatch.com" using a good looking computer with steampunk was very surreal according to the presentation and its layout I really couldn't help but smile at it. Cartoons are also well-made and well-translated and low-profile models of Dreamworks or Pixar, but more than anything like Illumination.
As the story is strongly influenced by street movies the movie is made up of various "episodes" that we encounter our characters. Most of the reunions are reasonably interesting to meet a veterinarian who specializes in some amazingly interesting creatures, a sequel to djinn living in a rusty Volkswagen Beetle ventilator, and a set in India full of powerful visual and comedy clashes between two characters alone. One answer I would say that comes from this is that despite the official marking of Fidrake's family that will fight the people, the smallest threat seems to come from the human world and the film seems to be separated from it despite the modern day. Almost everyone found by the three is friendly to them or helpful and it would probably be helpful to sell a little despair if they met with a vicious group to find out why Fidrake's family needs to be relocated. Admittedly, this is probably a nitpick and since I have not yet read the book I am not sure if this point was mentioned in the book, but it is one of the most notable points of adherence to a movie. The film also has references to other cartoon films such as the poster of the film "How to Tame Your Dragon" previously starring "How to Tame your Dragon" which had been screaming in terms of its inclusion, and I'm not kidding, blinking and you will miss. refers to Ice Age films. How? Why? I don't know, but the surrealness of its installation was really funny.
Dragon Rider is a slightly above average children’s film that will not be watched by the intended audience. Although in terms of style he owes a lot to the films How to Train Your Dragon, the movie gets its voice and identity to keep it unique. Whether this is enough will depend on the viewer on the basis of the viewer, but since I have seen so many Vanguard Animation or Crest Animation films showing their laziness I almost give Dragon Rider some freedom. Not a bad example of what Rise FX can do about feature production, and with some improvements I have no problem seeing more of them.
