No Sudden Move Movie Review
Steven Soderbergh has turned his back on major budget films. Now he wants to do something personal, mysterious and still attract actors full of stars.
No Sudden Move has Nth degree cross-cutting tricks. Potshots are also needed in the automotive industry and their attitude toward the environment.
He was stationed in Detroit in 1955. Curt Goynes (Don Cheadle) has just been released from prison and is given an easy job. Big money in just a few hours worked by a cheap man named Jones (Brendan Fraser.)
Curt and two other men. Ronald (Benicio del Toro) and Charley (Kieran Culkin) need to break into Matt Wertz's house (David Harbor.) They will be watching over his family as Matt is taken to his office to pick up an important letter from his boss. it is safe.
Easy operation goes south very quickly. Both Curt and Ronald though found a way to stay ahead and make money with it. It's just a matter of who to trust as everyone has something to hide or an angle.
Matt, for example, is dating his secretary's secretary. Curt has annoyed many big people who want revenge on him. Ronald is dating a gangster. Nothing seems like it.
In the end you just know no one will end up with what he follows. It becomes weaker as the film becomes more complex as more actors are introduced. Although one character says he can't stop making money it turns out he's right. He ends up with a lot of money even though he was the one who was robbed.
Soderbergh has gone the way of this fi. Some scenes look a little different with its fisheye lens. One thing is for sure that Brendan Fraser looks at pork very much because of it.
