The Boy Behind the Door Review

Boy Behind the Door is an exciting new play directed by David Charbonier and Justin Powell, who directed only short films before the film.

In the film, Bobby (Lonnie Chavis) and Kevin (Ezra Dewey) are abducted and ended up in an unknown village far away. When Bobby manages to escape, he hears Kevin's cries for help and decides to save Kevin, because he can't leave his best friend hopeless.

Emerging directors of the film seem to have built their own love project with this film. The two are lifelong friends and play two young characters as they look like their younger siblings. Moreover, they always try to convey the message of true friends helping one another, but unfortunately they do so in a small way.

The fact that both directors are early in their career is reflected in the way they hand out the film. In addition to their message about friendship interests, the film is also vague. As a spectator it is not clear why the boys were kidnapped and what exactly the kidnappers want to do with them. You can try to fill in the gaps in the story, but in that way you will be left with unanswered questions. Another message about how dangerous children's lives may be is not so obvious. The film also copied many times into other well-known horror films, making it sometimes seem like a small and simple copy. As a viewer you should think about copied movies and not just watch these movies for more fun and excitement.

Due to the poorly written script with no details, the film is difficult to take seriously and has no real conflicts. The kidnappers are seen as stupid and vulnerable characters who have trouble taking young children. In addition, the actors make many foolish decisions, making it difficult for the viewer to take the film seriously. For example, the characters use a weapon in one scene, but do not go with this weapon, which makes them powerless against others in the next scene.

Despite the fact that the boys are very numerous based on their looks, Lonnie Chavis is able to put a good acting role into the film, but because of the small script, sometimes you get a little bit of it. Because Ezra Dewey is still stuck in the film, he doesn't get as many opportunities as a newcomer to his place. The actors who play the kidnappers are also many TV actors, which is reflected in their acting in the film and because of the small text.
