Slacker singer Leif Reinhold (Jake Johnson) is told of the death of his mother Honey (Susan Sarandon). He leaves her a large cupboard but a conditional asset comes with many tasks she has to complete. One of the activities is to call her former love Audrey (D'Arcy Carden). Carl (J. K. Simmons) is an Honey ex.
Jake and D'Arcy have a good sense of humor even on the phone. I wouldn’t do anything else in another film. Phone sex is fun. They have the same sensitivity to humor. They could have done more in this movie than talking about their past relationships. It would be great if they talked about the whole film. Jake and J. K. they are also good but they are one person removed. There is always a hole in their connection. This is a beautiful little indie.
