White Sky Review
Three people went camping at night leaving torches in the car and getting enough food for one. We are talking to experienced outsiders here. Some kind of UFO something does something with the cloud and light and a few SFX dollars later ... zombies. The rest of the film is these three and one wandering in the forest in the dark. Or camping. Or crying. Or relax. Or fighting alone. Everything is not equally enjoyable.
Zombies are bound by the rules of engagement that make sure you do nothing less fun. They can only run if they outnumber people. It is not easy to kill them as human beings. They cannot speak, but they can call one another, though this is not the case when doing so causes them to pass in large numbers even though many people are nearby. Meeting is easy. The heartbeat is slow. It is as if the film is directed at heart patients who are recovering from IC.
The film would be very interesting if these were not the most ignorant people in the world. They never ask questions, seek information, or try to find out what's going on. They just think that life on earth is over and that there is nothing better they can do than roam the woods until they have eaten or run out of things.
Unusually for a movie of this type, the main character brings a talented game. That's really bad, because it highlights how poor everyone is. Especially her sister. Whether he did something superficial or vague, his scenes were just as frightening.
Five stars in the power of the main character, an intriguing alien plot, a camera and sound work. Especially considering the accomplishments of a budget that will not include the actors' lunch at the fast food restaurant. How bad projects are more likely to be funded than they are when they get nothing is a mystery. I would love to see what this lot can do with a decent budget and better supporting actors. Five stars.
