Army of the Dead Movie Review
They are not known for seeking both zombie films and caper flicks, so "Army of the Dead" offers a bonus as it combines both themes in one movie. But to say that this picture has a fair share of problems would be an understatement, as two and a half hours is one of the main problems. That would be great if there was more to the story and characters, but this is one film where you really don’t care about any of the actors. Only one of them reaches the end of the picture, and at the same time you are left wondering what the point was, because no two goals were set as the foundation for the building was ever reached. Even high profile David Bautista fails to promote as the leader of a ragtag group heading to the Las Vegas slum with crowds of Zombies. What made him so angry about what kind of food truck he was going to run after he crashed alone on the day of paying $ 15 million was a confusing question mark to the viewer, even though he eventually got help on lobster rolls.
Say, for those who are wondering what happened to Geeta (Huma Qureshi), think about this. As he boarded a helicopter, he headed to the right of pilot Peters (Tig Notaro). When the monster zombie jumps on the board and starts fighting Scott Ward (Bautista), they go back and forth with Ward angling to shoot his attacker. When he fired the second time he missed the zombie, his bullet hit Geeta in the head by mistake. It is not shown on the screen, but how can you explain some of the blood pressure in the air window and Peters's illness. That was my thought at the time when I first saw it, and I think the explanation stands out, at least better than Geeta just disappearing into the story.
But that is just one anomaly. I got the biggest kick of anyone trying to shoot a monster zombie while he had that helmet on his head. What about trying to get a body shot? And with regard to any urgent need to remove the heck from the nuclear bomb, there is no way to explain it. Actually there wasn’t really much that made sense in every movie, but if you like tons of Zombies dropped by a quick shot, that’s enough to hold your adrenaline. Otherwise, this is the only time Elvis would have been happy to leave the building.
