Taking a Shot at Love Review
Not too bad to add. I am another person who loves Luke Macfarlane, his film is hit and missed but he has always been a very popular actor. I'm also one of those people who tends to ignore Alexa PenaVega, who often finds him compelled and rarely communicates with his roles. Most of Hallmark's films have a strangely structured design, although they have made some of the fastest changes, but most of the effect is noticeable, even though they make the right part of the smelly stuff.
'Taking a Gun in Love' is far from being a stench and more than just a sight to behold. It is a solid start to Hallmark's 2021 year and a strong entry into the category of New Movie movies. Is 'Taking a Gun in Love' good or perfect? No, and requesting perfection in Hallmark sets expectations and on the high side. Is worth watching. Of course it is, and it has been fun to see some Hallmark films recently about a change that was not in their Christmas offerings.
Like many Hallmark films, 'Taking a Shot at Love' follows a tried and tested formula and does not do much new with many of Hallmark's visual clips. So it sounds predictable.
And I found the conclusion very clean and on the fast side, a common issue with Hallmark, or easily telephoned like many Hallmark conclusions. Maybe music could be used less.
However, much is being done well. Macfarlane has such a simple charm that is lovable and looks absolutely home. PenaVega really surprised me, perky, he does not try too hard and this is one of the few times when it sounds like he is connecting with his character. He and Macfarlane have natural, real and delicious chemicals, where their love is most believable. Their relationship is moving at a real pace, not rushing or aimless, and it is not overshadowed by what is going on in the story. The supporting characters are strong. The characters come in as more than just shallow ciphers and do not appear to be very perfect or have exaggerated errors.
Production prices are very pleasing, especially the location, something Hallmark almost always brings. Even though there was little music, at least it was about the same style and had a character. Ballet is fast and beautiful, and being a ballet fan would love to see it. Hockey was also fun. The script does not leave or is very sensitive and has a warm glow on it. Although the story has no real surprises, it has a simple heart and a warm heart, and it never thought it was going too slow.
All in all, it promises to start in 2021 for Hallmark. 7/10.
